“I was very happy, honored, to be with other women that I admire, from whom I seek inspiration. Being nominated for this award is cool. It’s confirmation of the work I’ve been doing, to somehow have the effort recognized”, declared the journalist.
Child’s dream
“I always wanted to work in sports, in sports journalism. My childhood dream was to work with something linked to sport. I always went to football stadiums because of my father, my brothers, and that fascinated me. I would leave the game, get in the car, turn on the radio to listen to the sports report. I got home and watched the programs. But when I looked at the TV, I didn’t see many women. And when I entered college, I thought I wouldn’t have the opportunity. So, I ended up taking another path. I graduated in Communications and went to work in a pharmaceutical laboratory”, said Luciana, who has been in the communications market for over 20 years, but only took her first steps in sports journalism in 2016.
This transition of area of activity began with a postgraduate degree in sports journalism, which led to the partnership with other women to found a website and the opportunity to work at a web radio as a reporter: “When I started working at this radio , her owner stated that his dream was to have a female narrator.”
Importance of EBC
From 2019 onwards, Luciana began to invest and develop in the area of narration. But the big turning point was the arrival at EBCat the beginning of 2024, from which she finally had the possibility to dedicate herself fully to sports journalism.
When remembering the challenges she faced in her professional career, Luciana celebrates the current moment of the public communications company, in which women’s football and female professionals receive more and more space: “Here, as it is a public company, there is greater ease than than other vehicles to open space for both female narration and the exhibition of women’s games. This is because the commercial issue is not the focus, nor is it responding to pressure from the public, but what prevails is the promotion of diversity”.
“I’ve been at the EBCand the work is having a legal impact, which is an indication that we are on the right path. But there is still a lot to learn, to walk”, concludes the journalist.
