Since counting on Lucas Pinheiro Braaten, Brazil has been among the world’s alpine skiing elite. This Sunday (26), the athlete won bronze in the Kitzbühel stage, in Austria, of the World Cup, in the slalom event. This is Lucas’ third podium in the 2024-2025 season, the first in which he defends Brazil. Lucas, who is the son of a Brazilian and a Norwegian, used to compete for Norway.
In Austria, Lucas Pinheiro Braaten had the third best time (51s54) in the first descent in the slalom, advancing to the final, reserved for the 30 best classified among the 72 who started the dispute. In the second and final descent, the Brazilian didn’t do so well, with the 17th best time (50s14), but overall he had enough performance to stay on the podium.
Lucas’s total time (1min41s68) was behind only the Frenchman Clement Noel, gold with 1min41s49 and the Italian Alex Vinatzer, silver with 1min41s58.
The bronze in Austria follows silvers in the giant slalom in Beaver Creek, in the United States and in the slalom in Adelboden, Switzerland.
Still this week, Lucas competes in the Schladming stage, in Australia, between January 28th and 29th. In February, the Brazilian will face the Alpine Skiing World Cup, which will be held in Saalbach, Austria.
