In it Congress A law is being debated that will provide for the supervision of the funds of the non-governmental organizations (NGOs). In that sense, The Voice of 21 spoke with the constitutional lawyer Lucas Ghersiwho spoke about the objective of this regulation.
According to the lawyer, it is not unethical to accept donations or give donations to fund certain causes. However, the issue of debate is the lack of transparency.
“There is a problem if I am receiving money to promote certain causes and then I do not report transparently that I am defending certain causes because I am being paid to do so.“, the lawyer said.
“There is also an issue of conflict of interest that is very important to address. For example, there are many NGOs that suddenly have agreements with the Judiciary, suddenly they award prizes to judges, scholarships to judges, and those same NGOs that do that also file lawsuits in court. And there is a very serious conflict of interest, because the same NGOs that are training judges and giving awards to judges are involved,” he stressed.
He said that although NGOs have the right to receive donations, it is important that the sources of these donations are transparent, in addition to reporting the destination of these resources.
