Low wages lead players to request withdrawal from the National Series

MADRID, Spain.- Less than two weeks after the start of the National Baseball Series (SNB) 62, several players have been dropped; some because they have emigrated, others sanctioned and, as has been reported recently, others have decided not to participate because of the low salaries they receive.

Among this last reason, the most recent case is that of the young baseball player Yasiel González, who played in the current season for the Holguín Cubs.

As confirmed this week by the sports page power wash, González’s separation is due to “the very low salary quotas” he received.

However, the baseball player has continued to support the team from the stands of the Calixto García stadium; as reflected in a photo shared on Facebook by Colada Power.

Shortly before, for the same reasons, the Las Tunas team dropped Rafael Vinales, Farmers starter in the Elite League.

In an interview with journalist Orlando Cruz, from the Tunas Visión telecentre, Viñales explained: “I am not thinking of joining the team, this is mainly based on the fact that in recent times, despite my results, I believe that I have not been taken into account much and Well, the other part, which is the main one, is the economic situation we are in, it is something very uncomfortable, very difficult. It seems to me that I am not going to solve it there, so I am going to have to dedicate myself to other things to be able to help my family”.

On these casualties for salary reasons, the sports journalist Yasel Porto He commented that “there have been and will be many more who will take another path and no one will have elements or reason to question them.”

Porto specified that regular players in the National Series earn 3,500 pesos. “With a skyrocketing inflation rate that has skyrocketed the value of everything on the Island,” he comments, “it is clear that those 3,500 pesos is a very low figure, which is not enough for almost anything.”
