The temperatures in the center and west of Cuba will be very low from Friday night since they will be marked by a very cold air mass of arctic origin, the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology (Insmet) specifies.
Miriam Teresita Llanes, Insmet specialist, specified that winter conditions should prevail until the middle of next week, accentuated between Saturday and Monday, according to a report from the official journal Granma.

Due to the effect of the strong wind from the north, the thermal sensation will oscillate in a range between 12 and 10 degrees, or perhaps less, Llanes said.
For the Island and its destitute inhabitants, these temperatures are totally remarkable.
The models show maximum values during daylight hours that can be around 18 degrees Celsius on average, even with lower records in some areas.
There will be a predominance of mostly cloudy skies during the weekend in both regions of the archipelago, with the occurrence of swells on the north western coast.
The national record for low temperatures is 0.6 degrees Celsius on the island. It was recorded on February 18, 1996 in Bainoa, Mayabeque province, the report says.
