"Lost like a blind man in a bocce court": Fenapes leader responded to Lacalle

The leader of the National Federation of Secondary School Teachers (Fenapes), Emiliano Mandacen, criticized the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, after his statements about the conflict in the IAVA. “The president lost like a blind man in a bowling alley, the global problem of the IAVA is not called a union hall. The problem stems from the authoritarian, top-down conception that this ‘educational transformation’ imposes,” the leader said on his Twitter account.

Lacalle Pou had indicated this Wednesday his disagreement with the graffiti made by the IAVA students, in addition to supporting ANEP in the conflict that led to the arrest of the director of the institute. “We all know that the schools, the high schools, the UTUs belong to everyone, they all bank with their taxes. Does anyone in your house do what they do in that room? Is anyone willing to be defaced and dirty at home? You have to take care of what belongs to everyone as if it were your own. We don’t have to be proud of what is done with that building,” he said.

Mandacen echoed those statements and responded to him on Twitter. “How lazy the president, very badly advised on education, falls into the most common place, the mechanical, linear and crude transfer of a very complex situation. A high school in ruins, a poor pedagogical political management by the middle managers of the ANEP minimized“, held.

He Central Board of Directors (Codicen) of the ANEP met con the education and IAVA unions this Tuesday to try to end the conflict.

At the meeting, the union leaders presented to the education authorities A series of measures. one was that the director of the IAVA return to his position and the other the cessation of the investigation of the teachers.

This Wednesday the Codicen will meet to evaluate the requests of Fenapes, among them the repair of the IAVA elevator, one of the triggers of the conflict. As announced by its president, Robert Silva, the General Directorate of Secondary Education will undertake to fix the elevator.
