Los Mochis airport closed due to violence in Sinaloa

Guadalajara, Jal. The international airport of The Mochis temporarily suspended its operations this Thursday, derived from the violence that broke out in the state of Sinaloa, after the capture in Culiacán, of Ovid Guzman Lopezalias “el Ratón” —son of Mexican drug trafficker Joaquín “el Chapo” Guzmán.

The Pacific Airport Group (GAP), which operates and manages the Los Mochis air terminal, reported through a statement that “Los Mochis International Airport issued NOTAMs (Notices to Air Missions) closing the airport for civil operations at 10:42 and until 9:00 p.m.

According to the GAP statement, the total number of damages caused by the closure of that terminal were five departures and five arrivals to the destinations of La Paz, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Cabo San Lucas and Tijuana.

The airport group called affected passengers to contact their respective airlines to find out the status of their flights.
