Santo Domingo. – The general director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD), Felipe Suberví, reported that a fault caused by the rise of the Haina River will leave the municipalities of Los Alcarrizos, Pedro Brand and Pantoja without drinking water supply.
“The rise of the Haina River undermined the land, affecting a section of pipe of approximately 50 meters, leaving it in the air, so the line was diverted to restore service,” Suberví explained.
The director of the CAASD clarified that these works can take several days.
He stressed that due to the magnitude of the breakdown, heavy equipment and technical personnel necessary to solve the problem as soon as possible have been transferred.
“What happened here was that the waters dragged the foundations, leaving the pipes uncovered and without material, causing the pipes to fail at the joints,” he lamented.
He added that tanker trucks are supplying drinking water to the affected sectors.
The sectors affected in the case of the municipality of Los Alcarrizos are: the Paraíso neighborhood; New Horizon; Nazarene neighborhood; the Invi; New town; Villa Los Peloteros; Public Works; New Dawn; Landia, in the southern and lower part; Lebron neighborhood; The Liberator; April 24; Arenoso, at kilometer 14 and the residential El Madrigal.
