In messages at the session of the General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) to follow up on the extraordinary election in Tamaulipas, where this Sunday the person who will occupy a vacant senatorial position is elected, both the president of the organization, Lorenzo Córdova, and the counselor Ciro Murayama warned that the next elections would not have the same certainty in the organization, if the electoral reform is carried out.
“Today this election takes place in full democratic conditions, and this has been possible thanks to these historic achievements and to the fact that they are organized by professional electoral public servants,” said Córdova in defense of the Professional Electoral Service (SPEN), which will suffer a cut, once approved “Plan B”.
He recognized these personnel in the face of those who, he said, see them as “easily expendable, as bureaucrats with no proven capabilities.”
Murayama warned that in future elections there could be “disorder, chaos”, because, he added, the presidents of the polls will not know very well which people are representatives or not of each party (or) if they are denied the entry to an accredited representative”.
He pointed out that the reform proposal may allow parties to change or designate their representatives up to one day before election day.
“This may be the last election that is reached with a fully updated register if practically all the officials of the SPEN of the Federal Register of Electors (RFE) in the states are dismissed, as the so-called Plan B irresponsibly claims,” I accuse. Murayama.
