López Obrador will appoint a woman in the SEP after the departure of Delfina Gómez

The teacher will repeat her search for the governorship of the State of Mexico in 2023. In 2017, she obtained second place in the elections, which were won by PRI member Alfredo del Mazo with a difference of 169,000 votes.

Delfina Gómez was elected as coordinator of the defense committees of the fourth transformation, a position that makes her de facto the brunette candidate for the 2023 elections.

Upon being informed of the results of the three surveys in which she was the winner, the teacher said that she accepts the position wholeheartedly.

“I receive it with all the emotion because it is the product of the work of many actors, that is why I am proud to belong to this great team. I accept it with all my heart”, she said in a link that was made from the SEP in the middle of her working day.

This Friday, President López Obrador described Delfina Gómez as an honest woman, who, he said, is excited that she be considered by a political party for a popularly elected position, although he warned that it will be up to the people of Mexico whether or not it will be her governor.

“First to say that I am very pleased, although in the end it will be the citizens of the State of Mexico, who will decide freely, democratically, but I am very pleased that a party has made the decision based on polls that possible candidate for the State of Mexico. The teacher Delfina Gómez Álvarez, who is a good, hard-working, honest woman, a group teacher”, he highlighted.
