Veracruz, Ver., After the discovery of the body of Debanhi Escobar Bazaldúa, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador put to the consideration of the family of the young woman and the authorities of Nuevo León the participation of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) and , eventually consider attracting the case. The objective is to clarify what happened and, without advancing judgments, help the investigation, so there are no doubts of what really happened, he said.

After offering his condolences, he pondered the need to punish those responsible, if they existput the truth first, do not lie and give all the information.

This premise of transparency in the investigations must prevail in all cases, because only in this way can impunity be combated, he warned.

During the morning press conference held in the port of Veracruz, he replied that Nuevo León is not among the nine entities with the highest incidence of crime; ranks 10th.

He pointed out that in almost all the states there are these types of unfortunate events, but it is in less than half of the states where the majority of intentional homicides in general and femicides in particular are concentrated.

-During the search for this young woman, five women’s bodies were found. Hasn’t this set off alerts in the federal cabinet, not only in the case of Debanhi, but of other women? –She asked him.

-In all cases. That is why we have the daily meeting at six in the morning and we are taking measures, we are acting.

He asked his team to project the most recent statistics that point to a reduction in femicides so far this year.

announced that the report zero impunitywith the status of the ministerial and judicial investigations of all the most relevant files in the country, including those of murdered journalists, will now be released every Thursday.

Federal Security Undersecretary Ricardo Mejía recounted the Debanhi case, who disappeared on April 8 in Escobedo, Nuevo León.

From that moment, he confirmed, based on information requested motu proprio from the state prosecutor’s office, the discovery of the body of a woman in a cistern, who was wearing a crucifix and clothing matching the last available image of the young woman.

He said that due to the high relevance that the issue has acquired in public opinion, if this is the case and with full respect for the autonomy of the FGR, the federal government could propose the attraction of the case if necessary.
