A citizen handed over to the Attention and Referral Center (CAD) of the Government of Santa Cruz five offspring of a carachupa, because the mother of the animals died after being attacked by dogs. In parallel, veterinarians rescued a sloth that is five days old.
The owner of a property, although she does not specify the place, said that last Thursday some dogs detected the presence of a carachupa and attacked her, that is when she intervened to stop the onslaught, and was amazed to see a female who had five puppies.
Despite the prompt intervention, the mother of the animals died and the pups were transferred to the CAD facilities, where the veterinarians of the Santa Cruz government make efforts to keep them alive, giving them special care and providing them with the vitamins and minerals they need for their development. .

Anahi Flores, a CAD veterinarian, reported that the carachupa hatchlings are in good health, but remain under observation. She added that the animals will be released once they reach the ideal size and weight so that they can survive on their own in their natural habitat.
In the case of the baby sloth, it was found in the oxidation lagoon, in the area of Avenida G-77. Currently, he is being cared for by CAD veterinarians.
