Today is the last day of long weekendand according to the survey of the Argentine Tourism Observatory (OAT), the movement of travelers exceeded all expectations, as a new record was broken.
According to the figures, in the holiday close to two million tourists traveled to the interior of the country to enjoy the long weekendwhich also anticipates a successful summer season.
“we are enjoying another long weekend record, with a movement superior to the pre-pandemic, which consolidates a historic year for national tourism and anticipates another great summer season throughout the country“, assured the Minister of Tourism, Matías Lammens.
In most destinations the hotel occupancy level was 90%; however, other places reported 100% reserves, which is very positive for regional economies.
According to the survey, provinces such as Salta, Tucumán, La Rioja, Misiones, Entre Ríos, San Luis, San Juan and Chubut report full employment in their destinations; while Colón, Puerto Madryn and Mendoza capital were the busiest cities during the holiday.
In this regard, the president of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism (CAT), Gustavo Hani, pointed out that part of the success of the season is due to PreViaje, and assured that tourism also generates more foreign exchange for the country.
“The growth of the activity has been accompanied by the success of the Pre-Trip and by the arrival of many foreigners who choose to visit Argentina, which increasingly has more to offer in each destination throughout the country. Our industry continues to demonstrate that it generates foreign exchange income, genuine employment and growth for the Argentine economy“.
What were the numbers for the transport sector
The Ministry of Transportation revealed that the sale of air and land tickets increased significantly during the holidaywhich shows a growth in domestic tourism.
According to the data, there were more than 2,000 scheduled flights at Aeroparque, more than 4,000 buses to and from Retiro, and 12,000 people traveled on long-distance trains.
