This 2023 there are at least five holidays that fall on Friday or Monday throughout the year.

There are three working holidays in Uruguay that fall on the previous Monday in case they fall between Tuesday and Friday, to generate long weekends and promote tourism: April 19 (Desembarco de los Treinta y Tres Orientales), May 18 (Batalla de Las Piedras) and October 12 (Day of race).

The intention of President Luis Lacalle Pou is that the holidays do not run, since its raison d’être is not tourist.

However For that to happen, it must be modified by law. The Executive sent a bill to Parliament, but since September 2021 it has not yet been treated. hUntil it is done, those three holidays will continue to run.
