The Cuban long jumper Maykel Massó, Olympic bronze medalist in the Tokyo 2020 event, will start this winter season participating in the Copernicus Cup, a competition of athletics indoors that will be held on February 8 in the city of Torun, in Poland.
according to a note published in the sports portal Hit, The Cuban will face a high-level competition, since among those registered are the Greek Miltiades Tentoglou, Olympic champion of the event in the Japanese capital, and the American world multi-medalist Marquis Dendy.

In the previous campaign, the man from Santiago barely participated in an event of the so-called winter tour and did not achieve valid marks in the indoor orb competition in Belgrade 2022, where Tentoglou was crowned.
The Greek has been dominant in the most recent elite competitions. He won in the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020 and only missed the gold in Oregon 2022, when in the last jump of the competition the Chinese Wang Jianan surpassed his mark.
The northerner Dendy exhibits medals in the last three world indoor calls: gold in Portland 2016 and bronze in Birmingham 2018 and Belgrade 2022.
Once again the jumper from Santiago, who ranked fourth in the 2022 Oregon World Championship, will be Cuba’s main reference in the specialty during a season of important challenges, such as two multi-sport events and the universal competition that will host the Romanian city of Budapest.
