According to the study “Economic Impact of the Angamos Combat Holiday – 2024”prepared by the General Directorate of Research and Studies on Tourism and Crafts of Mincetur, It is expected that the average expense per person would reach S/ 430, mainly covering transportation services, food, accommodation and tourist activities.
Travelers are expected to stay overnight four nights on average, contributing to boosting local economies in the chosen destinations.
Main destinations
Among the most important criteria for choosing the destination, according to the Mincetur study, are: good weather and geographical proximity. 54.4% of respondents selected their destination due to favorable weather conditions, while 33.9% prioritized proximity, underlining the importance of accessibility and comfort in decision-making.
Metropolitan Lima would be the main starting point, concentrating 37.2% of total trips, while the rest of the tourists would travel from other regions. Among the most visited destinations are Lima (31.1%), Cusco (9.6%), La Libertad (9.3%), Arequipa (8.1%), Áncash (8.1%) and Ica (6%). together capturing 72.2% of the trips. These destinations stand out for their varied tourist offer, favorable climatic conditions and rich gastronomy, consolidating themselves as the preferred options of travelers during long holidays.
Regarding the reasons for travel, an equitable distribution is observed between recreation (48.8%) and visits to family and friends (47.7%), which indicates that many Peruvians will take advantage of the holiday both to rest and to reconnect with their loved ones. dear ones. Regarding the travel planning, 93.9% of tourists will choose to organize their trip independently, without resorting to tourist packages. The interprovincial bus would be the most used means of transportation, with a 66.5% preference, due to its wide coverage and accessibility nationwide. In Metropolitan Lima, the use of private vehicles (own or those of family and friends) would be the second most common option (20.2%), while, in other regions, traveling by plane and private cars will also play an important role.
In terms of accommodation, the majority of tourists (60.4%) would stay in the homes of family or friends. However, a significant portion of travelers would choose low-cost hostels or hotels, reflecting the preference for cheaper options. 3-star hotels and luxury accommodations would receive fewer visitors.
