Localities of Chubut and Santa Cruz with "yellow alert" by strong winds

The SMN recommended that residents of the affected areas avoid outdoor activities.

Localities in the south of Chubut and the west of Santa Cruz maintained a yellow alert this Friday due to the persistence of “strong winds”, reported the National Meteorological Service (SMN).

According to the alert system, this weather condition will affect to the Chubut areas of the Escalante plateau, Sarmiento, southwest of Florentino Ameghino and the Río Senguer plateau, while in Santa Cruz this alert extends to the mountain range of Lake Buenos Aires, Río Chico, Güer Aike and Lago Argentino.

“The area will be affected by winds from the west sector with speeds between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour and gusts that can exceed 90 kilometers per hour,” reported the SMN.

Against this background, the SMN recommended avoid outdoor activities, secure items that can be blown up and have an emergency backpack with flashlight, radio, documents and telephone.

In this sense, The scientific body issued a yellow alert for high temperatures in the central and eastern region of the province of Córdoba, which includes the towns of San Justo, Rio Primero, Segundo, Tercero Arriba, the lower area of ​​Colón, the lower area of ​​Totoral, Punilla, the mountainous area of ​​Colón, the mountainous area of ​​Ischilín, the mountainous area of ​​Santa María, the mountainous area of ​​Totoral, lower area of ​​Calamuchita and lower area of ​​Santa María.

The yellow level can generate a “mild to moderate effect on health”with conditions that can be dangerous, especially for risk groups, such as boys and girls, people over 65, with chronic diseases.

In turn, the SMN reported -through its ranking of temperatures at 19- that the highest was registered in the town of San Antonio Oeste in Río Negro with 36.2°, followed by the Chubut towns of Trelew and Puerto Madryn with 36.1° and 36°.

In the province of Buenos Aires, the highest temperature was recorded in Pehuajó with 31.1°, followed by Junín with 29.8° and Bahía Blanca with 28.6°.

In the City of Buenos Aires, a maximum temperature of 33° is expected for this Saturday and a minimum of 20°, according to the SMN.

The lowest temperatures this Friday They were located in the Fuegian city of Ushuaia with 8°, El Calafate in Santa Cruz with 12.6° and Rio Grande in Tierra del Fuego with 15.2°.
