Localities of Bogotá and municipalities of Cundinamarca that will have water cuts at Easter

The Bogotá Aqueduct and Sewerage Company (EAAB) announced that due to modernization and maintenance works to be carried out during Holy Week in the capital of the Republic, seven towns in the city and three municipalities in Cundinamarca will suffer intermittent water cuts.

in dialogue with RCN Radio, Cristina Arango, manager of the EAAB, explained that “we are going to intervene in the Tibitoc-Casablanca line, which is the one that supplies water to the west of the city. We need to connect the old pipeline with the new pipeline that we have been building and, in this way, have better maneuverability in all of the city’s networks”.

The official pointed out that “let’s remember that the Tibitoc-Casablanca pipeline It is a pipe of about 60 years, So with this we are completely modernized. The new pipeline should last another 60 years or more, with new technology and modernized.”

The works will be carried out on that date taking into account that the demand for water usually decreases, since thousands of citizens who leave Bogotá to enjoy a few days off, according to the manager of the Aqueduct Company.

Thus, the residents who remain in these sectors must provide themselves with water in their homes no later than Monday, April 3, 2023.

Meanwhile, The Secretary of the Government of Bogotá, Felipe Jiménez, indicated that almost two million people will be affected by these water cuts and asked citizens for patience for the inconvenience caused in this regard.

The official also recommended collecting water in a preventive way, to face the contingency due to maintenance works in that sector of the city.
