Local seal where ex-employee in Cartagena was expelled

Upon inspection in a designer store Jon Sonenin Cartagena, where a former employee was expelled with her daughter in her arms, the Ministry of Labor carried out the preventive closure of the establishment this Tuesday.

In a viral video on social networks, it is observed how a woman with a baby was taken out of the business premises while, apparently, she was claiming for the payment of her social benefits after her retirement at the end of October.

The images show how the Police take her out of the store, a fact that provoked the reaction of the citizens against the attitude of the public force and the administration of the place.

President Gustavo Petro himself rejected this action, which he described as deplorable.

“Respect for labor rules should be everyday bread. This treatment of a working woman who is a bearer of rights is deplorable,” the president wrote about the video.

After these facts, The Ministry of Labor visited the premises and carried out the closure upon finding that one of the employees did not have an affiliation with ARL.

The company Sonen Internacional SAS, owned by designer Jon Sonen, regretted the fact in a statement and stated that the settlement was paid.

He added that “a store or shopping center is not a public venue to file a labor claim” and that “For this, there are the headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, which protects your rights as a worker.”

For its part, the Police supported the legitimacy of the procedure.
