According to figures from Caja Piura, an entrepreneur requests an average business loan for S/13,800 and has the flexibility to pay off his debt weekly, biweekly or monthly.

The economic situation will also boost the granting of consumer loans for school campaigns, estimates the microfinance institution, which this year expects to reach S/3.5 million. “This type of loan helps many families to cover the expenses that come with the start of classes, giving them the opportunity to pay off the debt in up to 36 months,” said Vílchez.
More than half of the applicants for a business loan are men (53%) and millennials (52%) and the average amount they need to cover school campaign expenses is S/3,130.
“A diligent family can reduce the impact of school expenses with the help of a financial plan where a part of the monthly income is assigned to savings,” the spokesperson concluded.
