The new Supreme Prosecutor Liz Patricia Benavides Vargas was unanimously elected today as the new head of the Public ministryand will succeed Pablo Sánchez in office.
Benavides obtained the support of the other three members: Sánchez, Zoraida Ávalos and Juan Carlos Villena.
“In an extraordinary session, the Board of Supreme Prosecutors unanimously elected Patricia Benavides Vargas as the new prosecutor of the Nation,” reported the Public Ministry through its social networks.
From Twitter, the Public Ministry highlighted that the official obtained first place in the merit table of the contest held this year to be supreme prosecutor.
Now the new prosecutor of the Nation will have the responsibility to continue with the investigation of President Pedro Castillo, who is accused of heading a criminal organization that distributed works and public posts from the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
