Liz Cramer presents book on political trial to Fernando Lugo

A first-hand witness to the impeachment of Fernando Lugo in 2012, Liz Cramer, then Minister of Tourism, shares her memories in the book ¡Le lien, Presidente!, which will be on sale in bookstores from on Thursday, August 11.

On June 22, 2012, President Fernando Lugo, who had won the historic victory over the Colorado Party in the 2008 general elections, was impeached from office. As a first-hand witness, Liz Cramer tells in great detail what happened that day in her first book, which will be on sale from August 11 in the main bookstores in the country.

Cramer was summoned that day to the Government Palace in her capacity as Minister Executive Secretary of Tourism, as well as other authorities and advisers. Thanks to the notes he took and a subsequent statement to the Public Ministry, he has been able to accurately describe, a decade later, events, actions, words and even gestures of the then president and the rest of the actors (main and secondary) during those days. .

“This book is based on my declaration before the Justice, I declared these facts under oath and then I was extremely prudent not to respond to grievances or obtain media advantage. Only once did I go to the media with a short letter and I did not talk about it anymore. Ten years have passed and my intention is to record my truth, the contribution of my analysis of the figure of impeachment. It is also my way of responding, affirmatively, to those who often ask me if it is worth taking on the challenge of a high-responsibility role, if you can really contribute something to the country”, says the author about her first work.

Cramer, who has been an official in three consecutive governments, even of different political signs, affirms that she owed this book to many people who asked her to write it after hearing her talk about her experience of that difficult political moment. “I also owed it to myself, it was something I had inside and that I wanted to share, talk about my learning in complex situations like that, for which there is no manual,” she says.

Daughter of the late General César Cramer, Liz says that once she asked her father to write about the coup attempts and other key moments, but it was too late, due to her poor health. «I remember that I regretted so much that I had not pushed him to write before; there never seems to be the time, so shortly after the worst of the pandemic, I started to put together pieces that I had written in the past, and a friend gave me the push that I was missing, ”says the author.

The edition of the work was in charge of the publishing house Tu libro (www.tulibropy.com) and the distribution and sale is carried out by the publishing house and bookstore Servilibro. It is possible to request home deliveries throughout the country and abroad through the email [email protected] and the telephone numbers (595 21) 444770 and (595 981) 415615. The price of the copy is G. 100,000.
