The Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, appears this Tuesday before the Chamber of Senators as a general commission at the request of the Broad Front.
The situation of insecurity has once again been the focus of the agenda in recent weeks as a result of an escalation of violence in some neighborhoods, particularly in Montevideo.
Given this situation, President Luis Lacalle Pou summoned Heber to a meeting at the Executive Tower where the minister presented a security plan to combat the increase in homicides that, according to the authorities, is linked to drug trafficking.
From the Broad Front they summoned the minister to know details of that plan that until now has not been disclosed.
The minister met this Monday with the pro-government legislators to prepare the instance for this Tuesday. In that meeting, the minister said that the data that the portfolio has and that it will exhibit in the Senate guarantee a “sustained improvement” in the security indexes in this government with respect to the Broad Front.
The hierarch asked the senators of the coalition to “confront the false story” that is intended to be imposed by the opposition, which this Tuesday summons him to the Upper House as a general commission, amid a sustained upsurge in the number of homicides.
