The forecast of the aforementioned resource proposes that the advance of general elections be done the second Sunday of 2023. It also specifies that the cut of the presidential term occurs on April 30, 2024, while the congressional one is one day before the same year. In the case of the representatives before the Andean Parliament, their management would end on December 31, 2026.
Along these lines, they mention that the new head of state “assumes office before the Congress of the Republic on May 1, 2024 and concludes his term on July 28, 2028. Likewise, the Vice Presidents of the Republic elected in the general election 2023 assume and conclude their mandate on said dates”. Regarding the legislators, they would begin their functions on April 30, 2024 and would end their representation on July 26, 2028.
“The deadlines established in Law 26859, Organic Law of Elections, and in Law 28094, Law of Political Organizations, are not applicable in the general elections of 2023. The JNE, the ONPE and the Reniec adopt the actions within their competence so that said elections can be held on the established dates. in the fourth and fifth special transitory provisions, and to guarantee the full exercise of the right to political participation”, the ruling states elsewhere.
