To approve the constitutional reformCongress needs 87 votes in favor. If they are not achieved, the measure will be evaluated under election by referendum. According to the public agenda of the Congress of the Republic, the Plenary debate is scheduled to begin at 03:00 PM TODAY, November 20. The debate and voting will be carried out in the Sessions Chamber.
Constitutional reform was approved in the first legislature
On May 29, the Plenary of Congress approved, with 92 votes in favor, 25 against and 3 abstentions, the opinion that groups together Bills 2027, 2067, 2225, 2287, 2303, 2343 and 6375. This set of initiatives proposes a constitutional reform of articles 35, 191 and 194 of the Political Constitution of Peru.
This initiative would allow the re-election of mayors and governors for an additional period. Furthermore, it limited political exercise only to political parties with national scope.
