He Congress will elect its new president from the four lists presented after the departure of José Jerí. The candidates to assume the highest position in the Executive, by constitutional succession, are Maricarmen Alva, Édgar Reymundo, Héctor Acuña and José María Balcázar. The vote will be held in an extraordinary session and will define who will lead the country until July 28, 2026, in a context of strong citizen distrust towards the political class and a few months before the general elections.
