2nd edition runs on Sunday, December 1st
The 2nd Edition of the Arbolito Trail, a competition organized by Cerro Largo Trail Running, will have an international character because it will have the participation of a Spanish athlete.
You can participate in 7, 15 and 25 kilometers, depending on the degree of preparation that each athlete has.
At the launch event were, among other authorities, the Departmental Mayor of Cerro Largo and the Mayor of the Municipality of Arbolito.
“We want to thank all the messages received from all the families and all those who participated last year in the 1st Edition stating that they are going to come here again. We are talking about grandparents, grandmothers, fathers, mothers, children who do the 7 kilometers walking, running, enjoying themselves, taking photos and reaching the finish line.” held Quique Vaz.
“The arrival at the finish line is two very steep slopes, one behind the other, so they arrive hard. But last year we saw them and they came with a smile from ear to ear to ring the bell and then jump for joy, which is one of the most beautiful things that gives us pleasure as organizers to see.” said the member of the organization.
“This forces us to provide a better show, to try to replicate the good things we see in other places. “We do not want our event to be the same or worse than other national or international events, but we do want it to be different.” he remarked.
“We are a non-profit organization that supports running athletes, whether street or trail runners, like last year we supported Hugo Fernández who traveled to Greece.” he remembered. “Now we have new athletes to support like Moisés de Melo, Rocío Luzardo and Santiago Fernández among others” Vaz announced at the press conference launching the competition.
3 DISTANCES TO PARTICIPATE
“The 7 kilometers is a participatory distance, aimed at the entire public. It is not necessary to be a runner, but it is to go and participate, climb Cerro Largo, get to know it and appreciate all the beauties that the place has” added Manuel Duarte.
“There is no age limit, you can go running, accompanying. The idea is to arrive. It is totally participatory” he insisted.
“Then we have the 15 kilometers which is more competitive with 750 meters of altimetry and, finally, the 25 kilometers with more than 1000 meters of altimetry” he detailed.
“They are eye-catching circuits for those who are not involved in this type of events. The landscape is very beautiful for us and for everyone who visits us and does not know them, they are delighted with the places” express.
“We just have to wait for the day to arrive so that people can come and enjoy themselves and leave as happy as possible” said Manuel Duarte.
A SOCIALIZING COMPETENCE
“It is a sporting event. We are supporting the realization of more sports in our people, in our society. In his words, Quique Vaz mentioned the family a lot, he talked a lot about integration. Personally, I emphasize everything he said because it is what strengthens this event. It is a quality that distinguishes this type of competition that aims precisely to reunite the family, to motivate all its members.” reflected the Mayor of Cerro Largo.
“We see how this type of sports has been growing” he stressed. “I also highlight the quality of organization, the professionalism they have. Even though they emerge as competitors on that day, they take off their runners’ jacket or blouse a little and put on the organization’s one so that other people can enjoy what they enjoy in other places they go. That is doubly valuable because it speaks of the enthusiasm they put into getting more people involved in these types of activities that are sporting, but at the same time also socially very important.” projection José Yurramendi.
The Community Chief also considered that this type of activities are a very important tourist element. “We know that many people from outside come to this competition and that without a doubt mobilizes a city like Melo and a town like Arbolito, in short, the entire department” said. “Not only the competitor but his or her family will come to be part of the competition.
