After fighting for his life for 40 days, the four-month-old baby dies, originally from the 30 de Mayo neighborhood, in Managua, who on August 22 was dragged by the currents of the Rio Grande along with his three-year-old brother —deceased the same day of the tragedy—, while trying to cross with his mother and uncle.
The baby died in the early hours of Friday, September 30, after being admitted to the hospital in San Antonio, Texas, United States, after suffering from pneumonia, as confirmed by the newspaper La Prensa, the father of the minors, Noel Antonio Oviedo.

In a recent interview with Article 66the father of the minors, who has arrived in the United States for six months, said that the idea of his entire family traveling to the North American country was to find a better life.
“The goal was to have my family, to be together and not continue to suffer more needs, but unfortunately it did not happen,” lamented the Nicaraguan migrant.
To have his family by his side, Oviedo had to raise more than a thousand dollars, pawning the deeds of his mother’s house, however, the objective was frustrated.
extortion victims
As he narrated, his family was deceived by some “coyotes”, who supposedly would cross the Rio Grande on a raft, for which they were forced to venture to cross by themselves.

He pointed out that the “coyotes” who were supposed to help his wife cross the river tried to rob the four-month-old child (RIP). “One of those who were in the place told others: ‘take the child away, take the child away’, but my wife’s brother grabbed the child and they decided to cross before something else happened.”
Request help to repatriate bodies of minors
Before the death of the four-month-old child, the family needed between eight and 10 thousand dollars to repatriate the body of their three-year-old brother, however, now the amount is higher due to the other loss of their son.
