INEFOP promotes dialogue between specialists in the integration of education and work

The National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (INEFOP) held a meeting to address lines of work that integrate education and work in a collaborative way. According to the head of the organization, Pablo Darscht, the activity is valuable for generating an environment for listening and reflection. “(It offers) better opportunities for people to advance in their training, and, above all, linked to their work,” he stated.

Education and Work for Young People and Adults: A Dialogue towards the Future was held last Friday the 18th, in the auditorium of the annex to the Executive Tower. The initiative brought together national and international experts, and representatives from the fields of education and work, to discuss the challenges and opportunities in training for decent life and work.

The main objective was to analyze and debate how education and the world of work can be integrated more effectively to benefit both educational institutions and future professionals.

The event was aimed at technicians and social actors from educational institutions and the world of work, education and vocational training professionals and members of public and private organizations linked to the topic. The day was organized around two axes: education throughout life, and education and work.

Regarding the first, a panel explored the concept of continuing education and its importance in the current context, with special emphasis on the skills necessary to face the digital transformation and the challenges posed by the world of work.

As for the second, the relationship between technical and professional training and its adaptation to the demands of the current labor market was analyzed. In addition, the recognition and validation of knowledge acquired in different educational contexts was discussed.

Darscht maintained, at the opening of the meeting, that this represents a unique opportunity to promote the exchange of ideas and experiences between different participants and contribute to the development of policies that strengthen the relationship between education and employment in Uruguay.

Also participating were the member of the board of directors of the National Institute of Educational Evaluation Guillermo Dutra and the advisor of the Andrés Gil Technological University, among other authorities and delegates of educational entities.
