Lisandro Macarrulla requests license as Minister of the Presidency

The Minister of the Presidency, Lisandro Macarrullainformed last night that he requested a leave of absence from his duties, after his son was linked to the Medusa case.

“In accordance with the powers established in the Civil Service LawI have asked the President of the Republic for a license from my position as Minister of the Presidency,” he reported in a tweet that he posted on his account at 11:27 p.m.

Macarrulla made the decision after the company managed by his son Lisandro was mentioned in the “Medusa” case file, which investigates the Public ministry for alleged overvaluation and payment of bribes.

After learning of their connection, the director of Public Procurement, Carlos Pimentel, said that this is a sign of the independence of the Public Ministry in the fight against corruption.

Lisandro José Macarrulla Martínez would form part of the 41 people that the Public Ministry has accused in the alleged network of corruption that exceeds one billion pesos in alleged bribes.

The General Director of Ethics and Government Integrity (DIGEIG), Milagros Ortiz Boschstated yesterday that no different treatment has been given to the Minister of the Presidency, Lisandro Macarrulla, after the accusations in the management of Jean Alain.

The official also stressed that at the time that the cases are deposited before the justice that entity stops any incident in it.

“In the cases that are brought to justice, due process must be complied with,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Minister of the Presidency in the Administrative Ministry, José Ignacio Paliza, stated that since the beginning of the Government “we have behaved respectfully before the Public Ministry, we do not get involved in their actions, because we must respect their expertise” .

“We have been prudent even to omit opinions because any opinion of ours can be misinterpreted, can be understood as subjective or can be taken for confusion,” he said.
