MADRID, Spain.- The wife of Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, Lis Cuesta Peraza, once again said this Monday that the Cuban government “is not going to give up the Revolution.”
“I reiterate, WE ARE NOT GOING TO GIVE UP THE REVOLUTION,” Cuesta wrote, underlined in capital letters, on his social network account Twitter.
“We are NOT going to abandon anyone, that is the motto that makes us revolutionaries. We have to UNDERSTAND the social processes and TAKE CARE OF THEM integrally”, he added.
I reiterate WE ARE NOT GOING TO GIVE UP THE REVOLUTION and for that very reason we are NOT going to abandon anyone, that is the motto that makes us revolutionaries. It is necessary to UNDERSTAND the social processes and ATTEND THEM integrally. #CubaForPeace

Already this weekend, Díaz-Canel’s wife had pointed out that, despite the “difficult” situation on the island, “everything necessary to get ahead” will be done, except to surrender to the Revolution.
With “everything necessary to get ahead,” Cuesta Peraza could be referring to the repression unleashed to contain the anti-government protests that have taken place on the island since last September 29.
Since that date, Cubans have staged several days of demonstrations to demand freedom and the restoration of basic services such as electricity and water.
Until this Monday, the media specialized in data journalism Inventory Project had confirmed 55 protests have occurred on the Island since last September 29, specifically in 49 areas of 16 municipalities in four provinces.
In Havana alone, 48 of the 55 occurred. protestswhich covered all the municipalities except Habana Vieja, Centro Habana, Regla and El Cotorro.
To stop these demonstrations, the Cuban authorities sent shock troops dressed in civilian clothes, as well as trucks with agents of the regime that broke up the protests with extreme violence.
