“For tomorrow we will not be able to start the service, we will be reporting very early what the progress is and at what time, when the service will resume.

“The work is still continuing and will continue tonight to clear the track in the first instance, thoroughly review all electrical power and telecommunications systems, restore signaling and immediately proceed with empty trains to verify correct operation,” the official said in a message to the media, where questions from the press were not allowed.

The official indicated that the wagons of both damaged trains have been uncoupled and only two wagons remain pending removal, since the rest have been transferred to the Ticomán terminal. In addition, the revision of roads and electrical installations is already being carried out.

Guillermo Calderón, general director of the Metro, indicated this Sunday afternoon that work was being done to resume service in the affected section.

“We are working intensely on the different teams; what I have commented, the release of the track, the repair of the damage that occurred and immediately afterwards we will enter a pre-operational system, verifying all the day systems and all the train systems that are operating normally”, he said the official at a press conference with the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum.

This Monday in the city, 1.4 million basic level students return to classes, from preschool to high school.
