Months later, the Routes de Lima case has turned a step forward. This is the process in which the former mayor of Lima, Susana Villarán, is investigated for money laundering for the contributions of Brazilian construction companies Oas and Odebrecht to her campaigns.
The Third Criminal Court of National Appeals of the Judiciary has declared the appeals presented by the former Private Investment Promotion of the Municipality of Lima, Domingo Arzubialde, and by the company Walter Thompson Peruana, two of the accused parties in this case.
In the resolution, the Chamber orders the Prosecutor to subsane in a period of five days the accusations against these accused. After that, the Preparatory Investigation Court within eight business days must make the corrections. This hearing has been set for May 9.
Then the file will be sent with the acquired to the Third Collegiate Court of the National Superior Court and the start of the oral trial should be set.

It is estimated that the expected oral trial against the former mayor of Lima, for whom the Prosecutor’s Office requests a sentence of 29 years in prison, begins next May, although it will depend on the appeals that can be made.
