The First Constitutional Chamber of Lima confirmed, by majority vote, the political disqualification of the former president Martin Vizcarra for a period of ten years in the second instance.
This decision proved right in favor of the resolution issued by the Judge Rocio Rabines Briceno on March 8, where the former president’s request to run for office in 2026 was rejected.

As recalled, the former Head of State was sanctioned by the Congress of the Republic for two electoral periods after being vaccinated against the COVID-19 irregularly in October 2020.
Despite everything, Martin Vizcarra He appealed his disqualification, considering that it violates the right to proper motivation of judicial decisions and to political participation.
However, the First Constitutional Chamber of Lima dismissed this appeal, determining that it should be confirmed in all its aspects, as long as it does not affect constitutional rights.
