In the early hours of this Wednesday, December 21, the former first lady, lilia paredes, and their two children left the country and headed for Mexico. This after the government of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) gave them political asylum.
The family of Pedro Castillo traveled accompanied by the Mexican ambassador in Peru, Pablo Monroy, who left the national territory after being expelled from our country after learning that political asylum was granted to the relatives of the former coup president.
The Castillo Paredes will live in Mexican territory under the protection of the AMLO government.
Paredes is being investigated by the Public Ministry for belonging to an alleged criminal organization led by former President Pedro Castillo.
Until yesterday, the whereabouts of the former first lady were unknown after her husband was arrested for attempting a coup.
In the last hours, the foreign minister of Mexico, Marcelo Ebrard, confirmed that Paredes was living in the Mexican embassy in Peru, located in the Lima district of San Isidro, after receiving political asylum.
