After making known the news of the death of Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, messages of condolences have been issued, lamenting his departure. Among those pronouncements are those of the high government, including that of President Gustavo Petro.

In an extensive trill, the president gave the condolences to the congressman’s family and condemned any type of political violence. “My condolences to the family of Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay, and Colombians all. Life is above any ideology,” Petro stood out.
The Head of State also pointed out that his administration has made a commitment to “The project of care and expansion of life”, as the main axis of its action.
“Violence in Colombia has been defeated through recent decades. After a political genocide unleashed between liberals and conservatives, which left 300,000 dead peasants, after another political genocide, committed against the left of the country, we have passed to a violence centered on illicit economies, which is increasingly cornerhe said.

The message of President Petro joined those of some ministries and control entities. Among them, the Ministry of Agriculture.
From the agricultural portfolio, the politician’s work highlighted, emphasizing “His vocation for service and delivery for the country”which “They will remain in the memory of all Colombians.”
For his part, the Minister of Labor, Antonio Sanguino, sent his solidarity to the family, friends and relatives of Uribe Turbay. “Although we were on different political shores, I know that the country loses a aguerrido defender of their ideas and a citizen dedicated to public service,” pointed out.

The Attorney General, Gregorio Eljach, also expressed his condolences.
“Today, more than ever, it is necessary to put aside struggle and polarization, and tend to find as a country spaces for dialogue, consensus, and that they bring us closer to peace and reconciliation, that move us away from the violence that today enters us as a nation,”he added.
The attack against Miguel Uribe Turbay took place at the beginning of June During a public event in the Modelia neighborhood, in the town of Fontibón (Bogotá). In the midst of an intervention, the congressman received three shots, two in the head and one in the leg.
Due to the severity of the wounds, the candidate of the Democratic Center was surgically intervened in the Santa Fe Clinic, where they are relatives and supporters in solidarity with the family.
