Lidio Cadet publishes autobiography advocating for a society of Love

Santo Domingo – Citizen Lidio Cadet advocated for a society of forgiveness, where the love of “a God who never condemns and always forgives reigns.”

The former Catholic priest and member of the Political Committee of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), who has alternated his religious life with politics, makes his point in his book “Autobiographical Notes, A journey into eternity.”

He maintains that there are two great protagonists in the universe: love and selfishness, and he considers the former as an energy, a value whose nature is to serve unconditionally; while selfishness is the opposite.

When human beings allow themselves to be guided by selfishness, they only care about “I”, what is mine, “says the former General Director of Ethics and Government Integrity (Digeig) in his work.

In this sense, it states that: “In my case, I have no doubt that the most important thing for me has been to serve others in my public and private actions.”

The Autobiographical Notes of the lawyer Lidio Cadet Jiménez consist of 57 chapters, condensed into 357 pages that collect periods from his childhood, his steps through the post-Trujillo student movements, the overthrow of Professor Juan Bosch, his life in Hato Mayor, his relationship with the April 65 revolution and his political and religious life, among others.

Professor Lidio Cadet has served in various public and private functions, including deputy, vice president of the Latin American Parliament, director of the Industrial Development Corporation (now Proindustria) and secretary general of the PLD.

“One of the most enriching experiences of my life in the spiritual human order was having the fortune of having inserted myself into the religious world, consciously, through the Scarboro community, a religious order built by Canadian priests,” he said.

Cadet Jiménez studied Philosophy and Theology at the Santo Tomás de Aquino Seminary and has a degree in Law from the University of the Third Age (UTE).
