Sao Paulo enforced the fact of playing at home at Morumbis stadium, and overcame Atletico Nacional (Colombia) 4-3 in the penalty shootout (after a 1-1 draw in regulatory time) on Tuesday night to reach the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores de America. The vacancy went to Tricolor because, on the way, the teams were just a goalless draw.

The team led by Argentine coach Hernán Crespo gave the impression that he would guarantee the classification with tranquility by opening the scoring in the two minutes of the first half with striker André Silva head. However, 24 minutes into the final stage Atletico Nacional reached equality thanks to goal in the penalty kick of brunettes.
As the 1-1 draw lasted by the end of 90 minutes, the vacancy had to be defined in the penalty shootout. In the maximum penalties Sao Paulo was more efficient and triumphed 4-3 to reach the quarterfinals.

Who said goodbye to the Copa Libertadores was Fortaleza, who, playing at José Amalfitani stadium in Buenos Aires, was defeated 2-0 by Vélez Sarsfield (Argentina) in the return match of the round of 16. The Lion eventually said goodbye to the continental competition because, in the first leg, he was 0-0 with the Argentines.
