Corinthians won the title of the 2025 edition of the Copa Libertadores in women’s football after defeating Deportivo Cali (Colombia) by a score of 5-3 on penalties (after a 0-0 draw in regular time), on Saturday night (18) at the Florencio Sola stadium, in Banfield (Argentina).

In this way, Brabas do Timão reached their sixth victory in the history of the competition (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025), three of which came consecutively (a feat never before achieved by a Brazilian team, male or female, in the history of the tournament).
Disallowed goal
The team led by coach Lucas Piccinato had a lot of difficulty creating opportunities in the first stage against an opponent who applied a lot in marking and who offered few spaces for the Brabas attack.
Corinthians’ first clear opportunity was created in the 13th minute, when defender Érika hit a strong header that stopped after a good save by Agudelo. The Deportivo Cali goalkeeper got back to work again in the 21st minute, following a very strong shot from Duda Sampaio.
However, the Brazilian team’s best opportunity was created in the 45th minute, when the ball was raised in the area and Érika took advantage to send it into the back of the net. But the match judge ended up canceling the move, with the help of VAR (video referee), due to Vic Albuquerque’s irregular position in the play.
🔥 End of the first time!

Penalty decision
In the final stage, Deportivo Cali reduced its intensity and began to give more space to Corinthians, who began to impose themselves through their technical quality. After 10 minutes, the team led by Lucas Piccinato arrived with great danger with a shot from the Tamires side from inside the area. Three minutes later, the one who gave goalkeeper Agudelo trouble was striker Jaque Ribeiro, who had just replaced Gisela Robledo.
However, the Brabas also reduced their rotation and the Colombian team also started to find spaces and forced goalkeeper Nicole to work on a shot from inside the area by Cobos (at 17 minutes) and on a shot from Aponzá (at 21).
In the 34th minute, Corinthians experienced their most complicated moment in the match, when Deportivo Cali almost scored from a very tight corner kick from Ibargüen, which only didn’t go into the goal because of a cut over the line by Jaque Ribeiro.
However, the score remained equal until the final whistle, which led to a penalty shootout in the final. In the maximum penalties, Corinthians Gabi Zanotti, Vic Albuquerque, Thaís Ferreira, Mariza and Jhonson were perfect, while Ibargüen sent a ball against the crossbar, which led to a 5-4 victory for Brabas.
