Libertad prevails over Olimpia and asserts itself as the sole leader of the Apertura

In La Huerta, Libertad beat Olimpia 1-0 today in the black and white classic on date 14. The difference goal was scored by Roque Santa Cruz for Gumarelo to hold on alone to the top of the Apertura Tournament.

The meeting was developed with a high physical intensity. In this context, in the 26th minute the referee Mario Díaz de Vivar determined to admonish Luis Zárate for the second time and send off, leaving Olimpia with 10 players.

In that play, Julio Enciso suffered a blow that even forced him to be removed from the commitment in an ambulance.

In the 41st minute the unbalance would come on the scoreboard, when Roque Santa Cruz took advantage of a rebound after a shot by Héctor Villalba and pushed the ball to the back of Gastón Olveira’s goal to decree the 1-0 goal.

Already in the complementary stage, the VAR intervened on two occasions: first in the decision to expel Diego Gómez with a direct red card, a situation that also left Gumarelo with 10 men.

At 65′, meanwhile, Tito Villalba scored what was initially the local 2-0, but the VAR ended up canceling the score for a hand in the previous play by Hernesto Caballero.

Thus, the match came to an end and the 1-0 ended in favor of Libertad, who with this result ensures that they continue at the top, now with 35 points.

Olimpia, meanwhile, stopped at 24 units and in fourth place in the Apertura.
