The PLRA’s Court of Conduct took action against the 15 Liberals who contributed to the definitive impeachment of Sandra Quiñonez. The measures were communicated through a press conference.
The impeachment trial of the Attorney General of the State, Sandra Quiñonez, was shelved after the corresponding number of votes was not gathered to carry out the action. The most striking aspect of the case was the absence of several deputies and, above all, the vote of some liberals.
A total of 20 deputies were the ones who “lent a hand” to Sandra Quiñonez and allowed a quorum, so the list remained: Emilio Pavón, Ariel Villagra, Fernando Orreggioni, Sergio Rojas, Rodrigo Blanco, Hugo Capurro, Marcelo Salinas, Celso Maldonado, Andres Rojas, Celso Kennedy, Pastor Vera Bejarano, Roya Torres, Carlos Noguera, Carlos Silva, Juan Manuel Ayala, Edgar Ortiz, Maria López, Julio Mineur, Miguel Cuevas (ANR) and Luis Urbieta (ANR).
Efraín Alegre, president of the PLRA, announced that there will be sanctions for the Liberals that allowed the political trial not to progress; they will not be able to run as members of the Coalition in these elections. “The Coalition has a clear decision, there will be no place for those who negotiate with the mafia’s briefcases,” said Alegre at a press conference.
He commented that he was informed that a group of liberals helped to file the impeachment; Something striking about the case is that the Liberal deputies sent a note addressed to the president of the PLRA, requesting an “urgent meeting” in order to offer their version of the facts about what happened in the session.
Efraín said that “The decision was unanimous, all the members of the party directory agreed, the least that can be done is to present a new accusatory libel. These are not times of ambiguity or they are with the mafia or they are with the dreams of the country, there are no other explanations ”he sentenced.
He made it clear that parliamentarians who deviate from the party’s institutional position and from the principles of the Coalition are excluded from being able to be candidates. “We need to unite for a new country, to solve the big problems, in terms of work, safety and health, that is the great objective of the Coalition, that of working with decent people and we have a clear position in this regard; this is not negotiable.”
