Liana Chaib takes office as Minister of the TST

The Superior Labor Court (TST) swore in today (16) the judge Liana Chaib as Minister of the Court. The minister was nominated for the position by President Jair Bolsonaro in the vacancy opened by the retirement of Minister Renato de Lacerda Paiva. Liana Chaib takes office as Minister of the TST

The inauguration ceremony was accompanied by the President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Minister Rosa Weber, by the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Lindôra Araújo, parliamentarians from Piauí and other authorities.

For protocol reasons, the minister did not speak at the ceremony. On behalf of the TST, the president of the court, Minister Lelio Bentes, highlighted that the Court will now have seven ministers in its composition.

“The female presence in the labor magistracy meets the strategic objectives of the Judiciary by implementing the judgment protocol with a gender perspective of the National Council of Justice (CNJ),” he said.

The new minister was born in Teresina and entered the labor magistracy as a substitute judge in 1990. She was also promoted, by merit, to the position of judge of the Regional Labor Court (TRT) of the 22nd Region, where she held the position of president. Liana holds a doctorate in constitutional law.
