The 26th São Paulo LGBT+ Pride Parade, held last Sunday (19), took a crowd to Avenida Paulista and stirred the capital’s economy in the days leading up to the event.
According to the Profile and Public Satisfaction Survey LGBT+ Parada 2022, carried out by the Tourism Observatory of the city of São Paulo, the average tourist spend in the city, per person, was R$ 1,881.84 – 15.1% more than in 2019 (R$ 1,634.20). The average expense on the event, per person, was BRL 132.30 – 7.5% more than in 2019 (BRL 123). The survey heard 1,223 people on the day of the event.
The party, which featured 19 electric trios and the participation of singers Pabllo Vittar, Luiza Sonza, Ludmilla, Jojo Todynho and Gretchen, among others, did not have any record of serious incidents during its performance. The parade continued from Avenida Paulista to Praça Roosevelt.
The survey showed that the percentage of tourists exceeded 40% of the total number of participants – 12.3% were from cities in the metropolitan region of São Paulo and 14.5% from the interior of the state. Tourists from other states totaled 13.6%, with the majority coming from Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Bahia and Santa Catarina. The event also had 0.7% of foreign tourists. According to the survey, 58.9% of those present were residents of the capital of São Paulo.
Almost 40% of the public attended the event for the first time this year, 50.1% participated in the Parade in 2019 and 10.2% in previous years.
Profile
As for the sexual orientation of the participants, 37.4% declared themselves to be gay, 19.1% heterosexual, 18.6% lesbian, 18.3% bisexual, 4.7% pansexual. Regarding gender identity, 86.3% said they were cisgender, 5.4% non-binary, 3.6% trans men, 2.4% trans women and 2.3% transvestites.
Most people were between 18 and 29 years old (59.2%), then 30 to 39 years old (28%), 40 to 49 years old (9.1%), 50 to 59 years old (3% ), 60 years or older (0.7%).
