During the hearing held this Thursday, October 16, the judge determined that the young man will face charges of qualified homicide and attempted homicide. He also ordered informal preventive detention, so Lex Ashton will continue to be held in the Reclusorio Oriente while the criminal process takes place.
The judge set a period of three months for the closure of the complementary investigation, a period in which the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office will be able to gather more elements before the opening of the trial.
The events of September 22 in CCH Sur
According to the investigations, Lex Ashton entered the CCH Sur with a knife, with which he attacked Jesús Israel “N”, a 16-year-old student, who lost his life. In his attempt to flee, he injured a campus worker who tried to stop him.
Subsequently, the young man fell from the third floor of a school building, causing fractures and a clot in his head. He remained hospitalized until October 10, when he was discharged and transferred to the Oriente Prison.
Defense arguments
During the hearing, the defendant’s defense, led by lawyer David Retes, pointed out that his client has been diagnosed with a psychological condition and that he had been treated by the UNAM Faculty of Psychology.
The lawyer stated that the judge did not consider the expert opinions presented by the defense and announced that he will promote an appeal for protection in favor of his client.

Ministerial authorities are also analyzing the possible relationship of the accused with online communities called “incel”, which spread content about masculinities and social rejection.
The process will continue in the coming weeks while the complementary investigation concludes and the trial date is determined.
