The Ministry of Culture declared the triethnic dance of cumbia as Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
Colombia News.
The National Council of Cultural Heritage, CNPC, during its sixth session of the year, gave a favorable opinion to the inscription of the traditional Cumbia of the Colombian Caribbean in the representative list of Cultural Heritage.
In the 38th edition of the José Barros Palomino National Cumbia Festival of El Banco, Magdalena, the Minister of Culture Patricia Ariza, announced that the traditional Cumbia of the Colombian Caribbean is recognized as a National Heritage.
For this process, the communities and the Government of Magdalena, in alliance with the José Barros Palomino Foundation, (Festicumbia) and the accompaniment of the Ministry of Culture, developed a Special Safeguard Plan, PES.
This declaration is a recognition of the living memory of musicians, composers, dancers, choreographers and artisans who have made it possible for this art to go down in history.
The cumbia
A dance that is the result of the meeting and miscegenation between indigenous, African and European; its history consolidated the identity of the Caribbean peoples and in general of the Nation.
A sound that makes us vibrate, that listening to the call of his flute and the rumble of his drums makes us bristle and allows us to love who we are.
Cumbia is a cultural manifestation that brings together the musical genre, the dance, as well as the set of practices and traditions.
Like the costumes, the manufacture of handmade instruments, rituals and parties.
We are living heritage of the nation!
One more reason to feel proud of Colombian culture and its contribution to the transformation and development of populations.
