In 2013, Dende (Development in Democracy), had organized the presidential debate, with the participation of four candidates. However, the same group today demands that only two be invited and refuses to include the other applicants.
The entities Desarrollo en Democracia (Dende), Club de Ejecutivos del Paraguay, Association of Christian Entrepreneurs (ADEC), Fundación CIRD and Horizonte Positivo Paraguay, which make up the Presidential Debate Committee, resolved to suspend the debate announced for the 2 and 16 of April, for refusing to invite more than two candidates.
The group sets as a condition that the debate take place withoutOnly between two presidential candidates, Santiago Peña (ANR) and Efraín Alegre (PLRA-Concertación), who have already received the invitation.
Peña confirmed his participationbut requested that Euclides Acevedo and Paraguayo Cubas also be included, that is, four in total. “I asked for a debate in which at least the four best positioned candidates participate. There is no reason to hide them. We have to build Paraguay together, ”Peña wrote on her Twitter account.

ANDIn some departments, these candidates outnumber the PLRA in intention to voteHowever, they were excluded, so they were not taken into account to expose their proposals on television.
Upon receiving Peña’s approach, the Committee automatically resolved to suspend the debate, without explaining what would be the inconvenience so that the other two presidential candidates also have a chance.
Dende had also organized the presidential debate in 2013, when he invited four candidates: Miguel Carrizosa, Mario Ferreiro, Efraín Alegre and Horacio Cartes.
