The parents of Thiago Samuel Corpus, the 14-year-old student who died after being run over in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Puerto Madero when he was participating in a school excursionThey demanded this morning “that justice be done” for their son and that the driver of the truck “do not go free.”
“I want justice, that this does not happen anymore because it cannot be that in a school they prepare excursions and that so few people go. My son is no longer recovering, but I want justice,” exclaimed Alberto, speaking to journalists in the town of San Francisco Solano where they live.
Monica also claimed: “I want justice, that this boy does not go free because just like my son was, he can be anyone. And for the school I ask that there be a sanction, at least for the director, because it was an oversight of theirs “
Thiago’s parents complained because the school where their son attended did not receive the explanations they expected, that they were told that the teenager was in the hospital when he had already died and that they were informed of his death two and a half hours after it occurred.
The fact
The incident occurred this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., on Avenida de los Italianos at 600, when the student was participating in an excursion with his classmates from secondary school Number 54 in San Francisco Solano, Quilmes.
Apparently, when the boy crossed the street behind some companions, he was run over by a 20-year-old man, who was driving a Volkswagen Amarok van, who is in custody.
The student’s parents said that the purpose of the excursion was to tour the ecological reserve of the city of Buenos Aires, but that “it was closed” and that the 47 students and 4 adults from the San Francisco Solano school were on a property belonging to the surroundings when the incident occurred.
“He sent me messages at 12:30 and told me ‘Mom I love you, I’m having a good time’ and I told him ‘Enjoy son and see you later in the afternoon’. That is the last message I have”, narrated the mother.
The father maintained that Thiago “was not restless, he was healthy” and considered that “it cannot be that because 47 boys go to 4 teachers that this has happened to him and they come and tell you ‘sorry’ and that’s it”.
“They didn’t say anything about the school, they didn’t give an explanation. I found out about this from colleagues. They just told us ‘sorry’”Alberto maintained and, regarding the delay in the communication of the death, he stated that “Thiago’s name was already being said in the news and we did not know anything.”
“The boys are all traumatized because they witnessed it, they cried, some of them vomited, and they left them at school that way. There was no containment,” she complained.
As the director of SAME, Alberto Crescenti, informed Télam yesterday, the teenager suffered “a strong head trauma that was the cause of his immediate death”for which he indicated that the doctors of the emergency service “could not do anything” to save his life.
The case was handled by the National Criminal and Correctional Court Number 16 and the driver of the van was charged with homicide.
