Pérez was the only one who managed to cover the track in less than an hour, registering a time of 59:59 minutes, while the Ecuadorian Jara stopped the clocks at 1:00.13 hours, according to the official results published on the website of the international federation of the discipline.
The Cuban was unable to improve the position due to her discreet performance in the five kilometer race section, completed in 8:17 minutes.
The athlete also set a time of 09:33 minutes in the 750-meter swim segment, the second best among the 29 registered triathletes. After a transition of only 30 seconds, she covered the 20 kilometers on the bicycle in 31:48 minutes.
The contest awarded points for the qualifying ladder for the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador and the Pan American Games in Santiago de Chile, scheduled for June and November of this year, respectively.
After his result in the Pan American Cup held on Ecuadorian soil, Amat appears ranked 21st in the continental female rankingl with a cumulative score of 1224.28 points.
