Leoni Torres: “The repression will only provoke more the fury of the tired people”

Madrid Spain.- Cuban singer-songwriter Leoni Torres issued a message denouncing the island’s rulers and their military after the repression unleashed by the popular protests that have occurred in recent days in the city of Nuevitas, Camagüey.

“Know that this will only provoke more fury from that people who are tired. You are the only ones to blame for everything that is happening and what will happen,” said Leoni Torres from Facebook.

“And to those who follow orders from the paunchy people who live like capitalists. You will not be able to leave like them. The bosses will leave and you will stay to pay the consequences,” added the popular musician, who in recent years has been one of the most critical artists against the island’s regime.

At the beginning of this month, Torres shared on social networks an analysis of the Argentine writer and political scientist Agustin Laje about the failure of socialism in countries like Cuba and Venezuela.

“Cuba is miserable because of socialism because socialism, proven, destroys everything it touches,” said the Argentine influencer in his speech, an idea that was shared by Torres on his Twitter account. Instagram.

The singer-songwriter, who currently resides in the United States, was one of the first voices to condemn the repression against the protesters of July 11, 2021 (11J) when he was still in Cuba.

He also publicly defended the members of the San Isidro Movement (MSI) after the quartering that took place at the headquarters of that opposition group in November 2020, and which was repressed by the Cuban political police.

Recent protests in Nuevitas
