Barahona.- The former president of the Republic (1996-2000. 2004-2012) and president of the Fuerza del Pueblo party (FP), Leonel Fernandezreferred this Sunday to the challenge of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, that the country’s economic figures be discussed before international organizations.
“Today the President of the Republic launches a challenge, and says that if these data are not true, that we are going to discuss it with international organizations, and we tell the President of the Republic that we accept the challenge and that we are going to demonstrate that effectively, what we are saying is the truth because it corresponds to the reality of the Dominican people,” he said. Fernandez.
The former president launched harsh criticism of the economic policy of the current government administration, which, according to what he said, does not want to admit that there is an economic crisis in the country.

“We have a government that does not recognize that we live in a crisis, since it does not recognize it, it believes that we are in wonderland. It will not be able to resolve a crisis that it does not want to recognize, creating the red carpet so that in 2024 the People’s Force will climb the steps of the National Palace,” said the opposition leader.
Fernández said that the government is in the midst of an economic storm and does not want to admit it. “In the face of inflation and the high cost of living, no concrete solutions are proposed and nobody can bear the famine,” said the president of the FP.
The former Dominican president said that the correct thing for a leader is to recognize a crisis, when the crisis exists, only from that moment can the process to resolve that situation begin. “The world is in crisis, we are experiencing difficult times,” said the president of the FP.
Fernández spoke at the culmination of an extensive tour of the southern provinces of Bahoruco, Independencia and Barahona, where he said that the entity he presides over is not made up of ghosts and that a palpable example is the great swearing-in act that he presided over at the Sports Center of this demarcation to swear in a large number of new members of the FP in an act at the sports center of the Olympic Village of Barahona.
